From May 30 to June 2, 2024, Ocampo Expeditions had the pleasure of organizing a birdwatching tour in Valle del Cauca for three passionate nature enthusiasts. This experience was a celebration of biodiversity, local culture, and the flavors of the region.
Captivating Wildlife Encounters
From the moment they arrived, the group was captivated by the natural beauty of the Valle. Our first stop, Finca La Florida, offered an enchanting display of local birdlife, featuring the striking Multicolored Tanager and other endemic species. Designed for photography, this reserve provided countless opportunities for the group to capture memorable moments.
One of the tour’s highlights was the visit to Finca Alejandría, also known as the “Hummingbird Paradise.” Here, tiny hummingbirds darted among exotic plants and flowers, creating magical moments that delighted everyone. The serene environment and diversity of species added to the wonder of each sighting.
Another unforgettable experience awaited at Finca Doña Dora, where the group was thrilled to spot the impressive Toucan Barbet alongside other remarkable regional species. Every new sighting brought excitement, as the group deepened their connection with Colombia’s wildlife.
Cultural and Culinary Highlights
This journey wasn’t just about birds; local culture and gastronomy also played a central role. Rich, traditional flavors in every meal added a culinary dimension to the adventure, perfectly complementing the exploration of nature.
This tour was more than just a trip: it was a true immersion into the natural beauty of Valle del Cauca, a chance to appreciate wildlife up close, and a celebration of the participants’ connection to the environment.
