KEVIN OCAMPO & VIVIAN MEDINA FOUNDERS
Kevin Ocampo is a dedicated professional bird photographer and bird tourism entrepreneur with over a decade of experience in bird watching. His passion and commitment to bird watching have earned him recognition both in Colombia and internationally, including the award for best bird photographer in his region from the Mayor's Office of Santiago de Cali. Kevin is also an entrepreneur and co-founded Ocampo Expeditions with his partner, Vivian Medina, who is an expert in travel and tourism. Together, they provide high-quality birdwatching and nature tourism experiences in Colombia, leveraging their industry connections and promoting conservation through responsible ecotourism.

"We had fantastic experience with Ocampo Expeditions! An impulse trip to Colombia left us three weeks to find guides for the Valle de Cauca region. Kevin worked with us every step of the way to design a great trip, complete with a customized list of Endemics and Near Endemics. He also was very accommodating with our budget limitations, giving us suggestions for inexpensive lodging and sharing upfront any additional costs we might expect, such as entrance fees. He replied promptly to all my emailed questions with extreme courtesy.
During our trip, our guide Alex Muñoz was fantastic. Not only was he extremely knowledgeable about the birds, able to quickly help us identify them by both sight and sound, but he was also incredibly patient and personable. He and our driver (who kept us safe in the roads and is also a great bird spotter in her own right) both went out of their way to help us navigate some unexpected hiccups—rearranging lodging and staying with me during a short bout of illness. I appreciate their balance between going hard after birds and also taking care of us and our needs. It was helpful that my travel companion and I speak Spanish, as we all ended up speaking a mix of Spanish and English in order to better communicate.
Overall, we very much enjoyed our time with Ocampo Expeditions and would highly recommend them.”
